Decléor Facials

For the very best results, we recommend the Feed, Fortify and Finish approach to skincare.

The first stage in any serious skincare regime is good nutrition to feed your skin from within. Even if you eat a well-balanced diet, it’s unlikely your skin is getting all the nutrients and vitamins it needs. The Advanced Nutrition Programme™ supplements are premium quality and specifically designed to target skin concerns.

Fortifying your skin with Environ skincare is the next step. Environ skincare was developed by Dr Des Fernandes, a leading South African plastic surgeon. The products are packed with active vitamin A and other powerful antioxidants to treat lines, sun-damage, problem skin, pigmentation, rosacea and dryness. Environ is a “step up” product as we gradually introduce your skin to increased levels of active vitamin A to give you results that you have never experienced before.

There’s little point in undoing all the good work on your skin by applying make-up that’s full of chemicals and pore blocking fillers like talc. We highly recommend finishing with Jane Iredale, the skincare make-up. 98% pure minerals, no parabens or fillers, it is recommended by plastic surgeons, dermatologists and skincare professionals the world over – not to mention Victoria Beckham, Nicole Kidman and Barack Obama!

Acne & Breakouts

Over production of sebum

Sebum is an oily waxy substance produced by the sebaceous glands to protect and moisturise the skin. When they go into overdrive, often influenced by hormonal changes and stress, they produce too much sebum and you get breakouts and in severe instances, acne. The solution is to cleanse the skin without stripping and use topical and products.

Over Keratinisation

This is a build up of dead skin cells that eventually blocks the pores.

Can cause an infection in the pore that then produces a pustule.

Your diet can hugely impact on how your skin behaves. Alcohol, sugar and dairy products in particular can contribute to the inflammation and bacteria in the skin.

Cleanse your skin with a product that doesn’t strip the skin (face wipes are a definite no no!)

Exfoliate but not with a granular product as this will make things worse. Use a Beta Hydroxy Acid to dissolve the build up in the pore

Sterilise the skin, using ingredients like lactic acid, tea tree and colostrum to kill the bacteria and reduce inflammation, or have a professional peel

Limit or cut out dairy to see if it has any effect on your skin (surprisingly common as a skin flare trigger). Make sure you eat plenty of oily fish, nuts and seeds and drink plenty of water.

Up your vitamins when you are stressed and find ways to destress where you can; sleep can never be over emphasised. Read up on bedtime hygiene. Plenty of evidence on pillowcase bacteria and how vital regular changing is.

Ageing: Wrinkles, Lines & Sagging

Cell renewal slows

Collagen production slows

Collagen and elastin give your skin plumpness. From the age of 30 this slows too, while sunlight, pollution, smoking, poor diet and stress can slow it even more.

Skin gets dryer and starts to thin

Hormonal changes mean the skin produces less hylauronic acid which moisturises the skin and the muscles can slacken causing the skin to sag

Use peptides, Vitamin A, Vitamin C and micro needling to stimulate the skin’s growth factors and natural collagen production

Use colostrum gel to thicken the skin

Use an SPF every day

Dry & Dehydrated

Hot showers, soap and face wipes

All strip your skin of its natural oils.

Over exfoliation

Can damage the living cells underneath your outer skin layer which in the long run can make your skin very dry.

Lack of good fats

Such as avocado, nuts, seeds and oily fish. These help to keep moisture locked into your skin.

Not drinking enough water

Skincare containing vitamin A for cell renewal, super moisturising products and wearing an SPF

Pigmentation, Dull Skin & Uneven Tone

Sun is the biggest factor

Your skin naturally produces melanin to protect the cells from radiation. Over time cells become damaged and over time produce melanin resulting in patches of darker skin such as ages spots on the hands and face. There are other types of pigmentation related to hormonal changes caused by the contraceptive pill, pregnancy or menopause.

Damage or trauma to the skin like spots and scars can also lead to post inflammatory pigmentation.

This condition has been difficult to treat in the past but scientific advances in skincare has led to some very good results. It is essential to wear an SPF every day to protect against further damage while Vitamins A and C help to repair cells that are over producing and using inhibitors to stop more production of melanin.

Rosacea & Redness

Rosacea and redness are quite different so it’s essential to have a skin analysis and consultation to ensure the right products are used. Rosacea can start off looking like mild redness or a flushed complextion but it can develop so the skin becomes inflamed and sensitive and, in severe cases, pustules appear. Rosacea cannot be cured completely but we can control it and we do understand some of the triggers that cause a flare up .

Fatty acid deficiency

A lack of good fats can affect the immunity of the skin and barrier function making it harder to fight infection.

Vitamin deficiency

A lack of vitamins A and C can makeblood vessels sensitive to UV and more reactant.

Solution- Use AVST Gel or Face and Body oil topically and Skin Vit A and Skin Vit C internally to top up your vitamin levels.

Rosacea can run in families

Stress, alcohol, harsh soaps, dairy and spicy foods, environment, medical conditions and dermodex mites that live on the skin, can all trigger a flare up of rosacea.

Eat anti inflammatory foods such as oily fish, nuts and seeds and take a Skin Omega supplement.

Try to cut down on dairy, alcohol and spices and keep a food diary so you can identify which particular foods cause a reaction.

Recommended Treatments: Environ Comfort and Calm Facial

As the skin ages, wounds take longer to heal and collagen production slows down so a scar may develop. There is also a greater risk of scarring if the skin’s DNA is damaged.

There is no quick fix, especially if the scar is deep, but super results can be achieved with old scars caused by acne, chicken pox or injury. If treatment is started as soon as possible on new scars, again the results are good.
